The focus of the Novo Nordisk Inc. Ethics & Compliance and Privacy Fellowship Program is to provide a law student with the opportunity to work on health care compliance projects under the supervision of experienced ethics & compliance professionals within the Privacy Office. The fellow will partner with other teams both within the Ethics & Compliance and Privacy department and other lines of business throughout NNI, including but not limited to, Legal and Corporate Affairs. The fellow will become familiar with numerous laws and regulations governing the pharmaceutical industry, particularly those related to privacy, including CCPA and GDPR, and how those rules impact Novo Nordisk Inc.
The program offers a law student an opportunity to gain practical work experience and apply classroom learnings to real-world business challenges. The program will provide an opportunity to network with Novo Nordisk Inc. professionals, learn and develop relevant skill sets, and better understand career opportunities within the pharmaceutical industry.
Fellowship Responsibilities and Criteria
The 2020 Novo Nordisk Inc. Ethics & Compliance and Privacy Fellowship – Privacy Office opportunity will focus on supporting the Privacy Office on its continued implementation of CCPA initiatives, monitor ongoing changes in Privacy Law, build out internal breach notification chart, prepare research memos on interpretations of CCPA, and assist with the third party contract project. Additional responsibilities will vary depending on the needs of the department and status of existing projects.
Eligibility Requirements include
- Completion of the second-year of Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law JD program
- Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 or above
- General knowledge and familiarity with privacy frameworks, including Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)/HITECH, Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Act, and CCPA preferred, but not required
- Detail-oriented, highly motivated, and intellectually curious
- Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and with others
- Ability to prioritize work effectively to meet timelines
- Demonstrated proficiency in standard MS office software applications
